14 Trees of the Celtic Lunar calendar These are the Celtic Lunar months, commonly known as the Oghamic calendar. Whether the Celts of one Clan or another used this is uncertain. There are many Oghams, only a handful of which have been translated. There have been thousands of scholarly arguments about the Oghams, about which one is correct, the accuracy of the translations, and so on. But this is a system that many modern day Celtic Pagans use, and they believe it works. The Beithe Luis Nion Ogham
The Beithe Luis Nion Ogham is a system in which the first 13 consonants of the Ogham alphabet are recognized as the Lunar months of the calendar. The Celtic year begins on Samhain night to represent the Dark half of the year and the Light half. The Oghamic calendar, however, begins 3 days after the Winter Solstice, on the Day of Reckoning. It was believed that on this day, one could tell for certain that the days were indeed getting longer and that the Light would return. Therefore, this day was selected to begin counting the new cycle. The Months and their corresponding trees are:
